Why Choose Chelmer Valley Sixth Form?

If you decide to join the Sixth Form at Chelmer Valley, you will be able to access the excellent resources on offer within the purpose built Sixth Form building and benefit from the first-class teaching that is on offer.

We challenge our students to be the best and do their best. Students are expected to work hard and will be rewarded for their hard work. We look to provide the best possible foundation for their future.

We appreciate the importance of academia but also understand that it is important that students grow in preparation for their next steps. We want our students to be able to leave at 18 prepared for the world they are going into and discovering. With this in mind we aim to provide a number of opportunities and activities to make our students be the best they can be.

Students are given much greater responsibility and autonomy and will be encouraged to apply resilience and determination within their studies. We provide a variety of opportunities for every student to improve their abilities outside of the classroom and gain employability skills required for future successful careers. We value ourselves on knowing and understanding every student in our care and ensure their journey through Sixth Form is a positive one.

We have so many opportunities for students who study with us including running the first Girls Football Academy in Essex alongside Broomfield Football Club, something we are very excited about being involved with. We offer all students Additional Studies activities - Extended Project Qualification, Sports Leadership Award and Arts Award, all of which provide students with an extra qualification. Extra-curricular opportunities involve a Bar Mock Trial competition, World Challenge, Tutoring roles and a number of fun activities including anything from sports to parkour, career talks to yoga all designed provide a relaxing alternative to studying!

Careers guidance and applying for university are all given high priority. Students are offered support groups for applying to university and apprenticeships as well as work experience opportunities and key skills taught through a comprehensive tutor programme, including study skills, employability skills and wellbeing activities.Opportunities for apprenticeship links, visits from Russell Group universities and working with employers are offered and give you excellent experience before you take your next step in your chosen career.

We believe a successful student is one that is happy in their surroundings. We are able to provide a bespoke support service for our students. We look after their emotional wellbeing. Students who may be struggling are offered advice, guidance and support programmes. A Chelmer Valley Sixth Former is one in 200 as opposed to 1 in 1000s (at college). We get to know every single one of you and cater your programme for your own preferences.
