Bullying and Equality at Chelmer Valley High School
Chelmer Valley High School is committed to ensuring that all students are able to learn in a supportive, caring and safe environment without the fear of being bullied or racism. Bullying and Racism is anti-social behaviour and affects everyone; it is unacceptable and will not be tolerated at the School. If bullying or racism does occur, any incidents will be dealt with promptly and effectively.
Chelmer Valley High School has an open policy for reporting incidents of bullying and racism which are strengthened and highlighted within the Equality Policy. Incidents, when reported, will be recorded and action taken: parents/carers, students and colleagues will be informed/involved as appropriate.
We will continue to work with parents/carers and students to ensure we have a culture of tolerance and respect at school. We urge parents/carers to contact their child’s Tutor or Head of Year as soon as possible should they have a concern about bullying or racism. The school also has bullying Awareness Champions, where our students are trained in supporting each other in recognising and responding to bullying situations. Students also have a ‘We are here for you’ tile on RM Unify (or click on the link below) where students can report incidences directly or in confidence if they wish.
Details of our school’s approach to preventing and addressing bullying are set in our anti-bullying strategy.
